Computerization Initiatives 

Computerization of major activities of the Government Departments has been accorded top priority and a substantial progress has been achieved in Kanyakumari District.   The following are some of the highlights of the activities. 

Computerization of  Land Records project has been implemented in all the four taluks. All the four  Taluks,  have been brought online where the chitta copies are given to the public.  Touch Screen Kiosks have been installed here for the convenience of the public.  

Taluk Office Computerization includes processing of Old Age Pension, Widow Pension, Physically Handicapped Pension, Deserted Women Pension, Destitute Agriculture Labourer Pension and Siddha Medical Pension of about 11,000 persons in  the four taluks of the District. The Paybills of all the employees of entire Revenue Department covering Collectorate, 2 Revenue Divisional Offices and 4 Taluk Offices have been computerized.  Besides, the Paybills of District Employment Office, District Treasury, Office of the Assistant Director of Town Panchayat and Office of the Assistant Director of Survey & Settlement have also been computerized. 

The District Unit of National Informatics Centre at District Collectorate, Nagercoil is extending services to various Departments with the computers and communication facilities installed at Collectorate.  Computers are also available at  the RDO Offices, Faircopy Section and Office of the Backward Class Welfare Officer.  Besides, a full-fledged computer Centre with one Windows NT Server and 5 Clients has been established both in District Rural Development Agency and  District Election Cell. 

Touch Screen Kiosk (TSCK) has been installed for the benefit of general public in all the Taluks, where the public can operate the computer by touching the screen and get information on land details, Old Age Pension details and Birth and Death details. This  is found to be very useful and is being used by many  people everyday.

Electronic Mail (E-mail)  facility has been provided in all the four Taluk offices, two Revenue Divisional Offices  and at the Collectorate in Kanyakumari District,. With this, most of the communications are sent and received through e-mail within the offices and to any other destinations.
